Not all Medicare covers this service. Primarily Part B offers this benefit as it is designated to medical insurance. It will only cover the cost if it is deemed medically necessary and when an alternative means of transportation could be hazardous to your health.

Some of the medical circumstances deemed necessary for an ambulance would be if you are in shock, unresponsive, or bleeding heavily. However, if you are dealing with a broken leg or injured, it is not enough reason to warrant an ambulance. 

For those with end-stage renal disease and similar conditions, Medicare will cover the cost of an ambulance to transport these individuals to and from a dialysis center. They will also cover transportation to a hospital or skilled nursing facility. 

Medicare will only pay for an ambulance to take you to the nearest medical facility that’s able to provide whatever care you need. If you ask to be taken to a facility that is further away, then Medicare will only cover the distance between your pickup point and the closest facility available.

There are options for non-medical ambulance services. If your health needs monitoring, traveling via a normal vehicle could prove to be hazardous to your condition. Another need for ambulance service is if you need to be confined to a bed and can’t sit or be in a wheelchair and need medical services during the trip that are only available in an ambulance, such as IV medication or monitoring. If your physician writes an order stating an appropriate reason, then you can also receive a non-emergency ambulance service. 

Whether your ambulance trip is a non-emergency or emergency service, you are still responsible for a portion of the costs unless you have supplement coverage which will pay your portion. 

Medicare’s Ridefare

Medicare does indeed cover ambulance services but under certain circumstances. Regardless of whether you have a plan that includes ambulance coverage, there is still a small price. This cost can be covered, leaving you with no need to spend a penny if you have Medicare Supplement Coverage. Out of the Medicare programs, if you premeditated that you want ambulance coverage, your best choice would be to enroll in Part B. After paying the deductible on this plan, you will no longer have to pay the 20% and full cost coverage.

Pitch Perfect actor Rebel Wilson, 42, has arguably one of the most inspiring weight loss journeys we’ve seen in Hollywood. After losing an astounding 77 pounds to date, the actor has transformed significantly and inspired many. 

After her stay at the vivaMayr wellness center in Austria, the actor declared 2020 a ‘year of health’ and began her journey to a healthier and more confident self. Let’s see how she went about her weight loss journey and learn from it. 

Rebel started with a cleanse at the wellness center, having a daily detox drink that flushes the toxins out of her system in the morning, Followed by a light exercise routine and meals specific to each person. 

After the retreat, Rebel states she does not explicitly follow a diet and instead follows a holistic approach to her eating known as the Mayr method. Involves adding rules to your eating habits.

These are: 

  • No snacking
  • Consciously upping protein intake
  • Reduce dairy and gluten intake
  • No food after 4 pm
  • No technology, talking, or reading whilst eating
  • Focus on chewing

Her meals, however, are higher in protein. So fish and chicken are staples to Rebels meals. She also notes that she does treat herself now and then and sticks to a healthy balance. 

Regarding exercise, Rebel has started slowly in the beginning by simply walking for about an hour each day. However, she quickly began to ramp up her exercise routine and has worked on building strength and muscle as she got in better shape.

We have heard the term ‘ meditation ‘ being bandied around for some years now, it has made its way into mainstream conversation, and we come across it almost daily on digital media, talk shows, podcasts, via adverts for apps on our phones, in movies and even on the radio.

This relaxed acceptance is a profound change in attitude and general misconception that was widely held by most people in many countries around the world until at least the late 1960s, when global culture underwent massive upheaval spawning the emergence of social consciousness, the civil rights movement, not only in America but across the globe. 

Added to this were the rise of feminism, environmentalism, the beginning of gay rights, and the burgeoning hippie counter-culture. The schism between the socially accepted norms of the more conservative 1950’s clashed violently with the curiosity of the new generation. It was from this cauldron of mistrust and distaste, born out of fear of change that the practice of Meditation was unfairly considered and labeled to be either satanic, for ‘those weed smoking hippies’, a form of mind control used by the enemies of the West from the cold war or even as something only slightly dodgy foreigners or cult leaders used to lead good, clean living youth astray. Thankfully, how far we have come, although perhaps still not far enough.

What Then, is Meditation

I can think of at least 12 “types” of Meditation off the top of my head. Still, to break it down slightly, there are forms of philosophical Meditation, religious Meditation, transcendental Meditation, mindfulness meditation, visualization meditation, and focussed Meditation. Perhaps another way to understand what Meditation is. To put it in a simple, pure form would be to call it contemplation, pondering, directed or focussed thought, or reflecting. After all, a rose is still a rose by any other name.

What is the Point of Meditating?

If nothing else, learning most forms of Meditation will significantly help you to manage your stress levels (which could reduce your raging cortisol levels, a good thing for weight loss), bring a sense of calmness, and induce relaxation, which in turn frees your body to sit in resting homeostasis, a wonderful treat for your bodies various systems to balance, repair and to be more functional. Alas, Meditation alone is unlikely to offer you a miraculous weight loss solution, but it can be highly effective in supporting and enhancing your weight loss journey. Meditation practice aims to facilitate a sense of peace and calm, helps you slow down your racing thoughts, plus you learn to be still, look at, and understand any of your negative thoughts, and then let them go.

Excess weight and unhealthy lifestyles are not only physical problems; they are often symptoms of deeper, underlying emotional issues that need to be looked at, healed, and then let go of.

  • Guided Meditation: This is led by a guide or teacher who uses descriptive word imagery to lead you to form mental pictures that you find helpful or relaxing. You could use this to ‘see’ yourself as slim, healthy, and happy.  
  • Loving Kindness Meditation: is usually practiced sitting comfortably and relaxed. You would breathe deeply and then say the words, “May I be happy, May I be well, May I be safe, May I be peaceful and at ease.” You will direct this loving-kindness to yourself for a while and then repeat the mantra, replacing the “I” with “you” while picturing a loved one who needs kind thoughts. This Meditation works towards being kind to yourself, which is helpful when you are dieting and have perhaps had a bad day or overindulged. This works well as once you have learned this form, you can use it anywhere and anytime you want, although I suggest perhaps saying the words in your head should you be in a public place!
  • Visualization Meditation: could be uniquely aligned with your weight loss goals, as you will learn to be still and calm before learning how to visualize yourself with your desired outcome. You can create a movie about You and the life you want to lead!
  • Mindfulness Meditation: is perhaps one of the forms that may take slightly longer to master but is very well worth the time and effort for the benefits you will derive. Mindfulness Meditation is the process of being fully present with your thoughts. Being mindful means being aware of what we are doing and what we are, but not reacting to what’s happening around us. You observe your thoughts and emotions but let them pass without judgment. This can be done anywhere, at any time of day, even on your commute to work. This can be so helpful when you are feeling discouraged regarding your weight loss, and it will help you understand what is going on within your mind and emotions, thus giving you the chance to overcome blockages that may be slowing your progress.

There are, as previously mentioned, many forms of Meditation. However, it is such a vast and interesting subject that you would only benefit from further research, plus your dinner conversation could get a lot more interesting!

On a more serious note, any form of meditation you choose to try for yourself, either through apps. Podcasts or teachers will only enhance your daily life, which in itself will make a start to your weight loss journey so much easier. If this is all utterly foreign to you, chat to people about it, ask questions and try to find a teacher or guide who can help you on your way. It is often gentler on yourself to take lessons from an experienced guide or therapist as sometimes deep, painful thoughts and memories rise to the surface, and you would benefit from the presence of an empathetic coach. If this is not possible, perhaps reach out to a trusted friend or family member to join you and support you.

Meditation no longer carries the same stigma that it did in those dark old days of ignorance, which means that these days you can go boldly, bravely, and with enthusiasm towards an engaging, enlightening and essentially an adventure to discover who you are and who you want to be. Although Shailene had been very sick in her early 20’s, she now feels very grounded, rooted, and clear. Following her win in Ireland, Celine Dion’s life began to change radically. She was now 19 years old, turning 20. This continued into the new Millennium with the renewal of wedding vows between her and her husband Rene Angelil on 5 January 2000.  Wonderfully, Rene’s throat cancer had gone into remission in 2002. Rene had then negotiated an unprecedented five nightly performances a week for three years(later extended to five years) with Caesars Palace. Unbearably, her brother, Daniel, died two days later.

  • 2 cups of quick oats
  • ½ buckwheat flour
  • ½ millet 
  • ¾ teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • ¾ teaspoon kosher salt

  • ¾ cup packed brown sugar, preferably light-brown
  • 2 large room temperature eggs 
  • 1 cup of fresh raspberries 
  • Plain yogurt for serving (optional)

Directions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F/190°C
  2. Mix together the oats, buckwheat flour, millet, cinnamon, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl. 
  3. Like two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  4. Heat the cashew butter in a saucepan along with the coconut oil and brown sugar on medium heat. Stir until everything is just combined.
  5. Pour cashew butter mixture into the oats mixture and combine. 
  6. Let it cool a bit and then add the two eggs.
  7. Add in the raspberries, they might break apart a bit but it’s okay.
  8. Scoop mixture and place individual mounds onto a prepared baking sheet, scoops should be around 2 tablespoons worth.

Who is John Goodman?

Born John Stephen Goodman on the 20th of June in 1952, he gained his national fame for playing the role of Dan Conner. This character was the family in the ABC comedy series called Roseanne. 

Long before his fame and recognition, John attended Southwest Missouri State University on a football scholarship. Unfortunately, his dreams of a football career came to an end when he suffered an injury.

This role would give him the critical attention every actor starting needs. 

He continued to appear regularly in films in the early 1980s, and in 1987 he played an escaped convict in the quirky Coen Brothers comedy Raising Arizona. However, his big break was being cast in Roseanne’s hit comedy television series. This performance landed him seven Emmy Awards nominations and a Golden Globe Award in 1993. During his stint on the series, his movie career also began to take off. In the 1990s, Goodman appeared in more than 20 movies. 

John Goodman worked extremely hard to build up his acting career. He borrowed a sum of $1000 from his older brother to move to New York from St. Louis to make his dream come true of being an actor.
