What is a Proportional Relationship?

What is a Proportional Relationship? Learn more from Healthier Me Today! When it comes to relationship advice, we’ve often heard the term that a relationship should be 50/50. Many, however, believe this to be wrong. When you’re in a relationship, no party should only be giving half, but rather their full 100%. When both parties give their all, the relationship is deemed proportional and has the best likely chance of success.

What is a Proportional Relationship – Am I in One?

Inequality in relationships is one of the reasons they most often fail. When those in a relationship don’t take time to consider each other’s needs, the relationship will not work. One-sided love and affection also have no place in a relationship. The best thing for yourself and your relationship is to go through the below relationship red flags which indicate relationship inequality and, therefore, disproportion.

Either You or Your Partner Makes all the Decisions, but Never Both

What is a Proportional Relationship | Healthier Me TodayIt’s important to assert your needs in a relationship. Take being sick. For example, if either you or your partner has been sick, the healthy one might need to pick up the slack. This does not ultimately mean that the relationship is unequal or disproportionate. However, if you are the one dictating where you’ll eat lunch every week, that shows disproportion and inequality in your relationship.

It is, however, not always possible to be sure whether or not you are dominating the relationship. In order to make find out, you can ask yourself the following questions:

  • Who always decides what we’ll do on weekends, my partner or me?
  • Who always makes the decision of which friends we’ll go to, my partner or me?
  • Who decides when we’ll have sex, my partner or me?
  • Do I, or does my partner decide who will do the housework?

The above answers will act as a guide on whether or not it is time to have a discussion about inequality in the relationship. DIY projects may help you and your partner work on splitting the decision making in your relationship. The projects will help you both practice compromise, and you’ll have the opportunity to learn about each other in a relaxed environment.

There is no Compromise During a Disagreement

What is a Proportional Relationship | Healthier Me Today

Disagreements are fairly normal in any relationship and don’t automatically indicate that you aren’t meant for each other. The important part is to find a solution that is acceptable to both partners. For this to work, both partners need to be comfortable making compromises. Competing with each other’s needs is not the way to go. There will always be disagreements in the relationship, but being able to find compromises will make these disagreements respectful. If you and your partner are in disagreement, with your partner refusing to compromise, tell your partner how that makes you feel. It’s important to note that no one’s opinion is more important than the other, and if the unhealthy behaviour continues, it might be time to reconsider the relationship.

Payment Falls Upon One Partner

What is a Proportional Relationship | Healthier Me Today

When a relationship is proportioned, the costs of dates should be split or alternated within the means of each partner. If your partner insists on paying for most dates or outings in the relationship, there is no problem. As long as your partner is not doing so in order to get love and affection from you, there is no problem. If your partner shows discomfort with paying for everything, yet you still expect them to, it might be time to look in the mirror and reevaluate your behaviour.

The Last Word Always Falls Upon One Partner

What is a Proportional Relationship | Healthier Me Today

When you’re in a healthy relationship, partners should be able to freely express themselves during an argument or disagreement without feeling dominated by the other. When your partner is voicing their opinion, don’t shut them down. Instead, why don’t you try to use this as an opportunity to get to know them better. Winning the argument should never be the aim… Instead, the goal should be to gain a mutual understanding of the issue at hand if you’re afraid of disagreement between you and your partner in fear of facing severe criticism or angry responses. It may be a telltale sign that it’s time to walk away from the relationship.

Building a Proportional Relationship

What is a Proportional Relationship | Healthier Me Today

In a newer relationship, there are ways to ensure that you’ll both be equal contributors. This may work for longer relationships as well if both partners are set to improve. Relationships require hard work but shouldn’t feel like it. When you both work together and want to work together, your relationship will reap the benefits.

Ways to ensure that your relationship is based on equality:

What is a Proportional Relationship | Healthier Me Today

  1. Respect should be your number 1 priority: Proportional relationships are only now becoming a modern occurrence. When couples respect each other, they ensure that they’re on an equal playing field.

You can do this by:

  • Openly communicating
  • Ensure you use kind words to speak to each other
  • Giving each other support
  • Compromising
  • Listening without interruption
  • Respecting the boundaries set by your partner

When a relationship lacks respect, they are often extremely toxic. This is why it is best to ensure that respect is the basis of your relationship.

2. Ensure you and your partner’s needs are equally important: Every person has certain needs that need to be met. It can be argued that there is in fact nothing more damaging to a relationship than sharing your feelings and having them shot down by your partner. Healthy relationships are based on equality.

It’s important to ensure that you don’t treat your partner as if their feelings don’t matter. Their feelings shouldn’t come second to yours but rather be just as important.

3. Build a romantic friendship: Romance isn’t the only important thing in a relationship. Friendship is just as important. Think of your partner as your closest friend with whom you share interests and hobbies. Having game nights, going to the movies and doing things you both enjoy will help you in building this friendship with your partner. Don’t be shy to share moments and experiences with your partner as you would with your friend. These relationships build trust, loyalty and open communication.

4. Your relationship should be a partnership: In a partnership, neither party is more important than the other. In order for a romantic partnership to work, the “me-first” mentality will have to go out the door.

You can create a partnership with your significant other by:

  • Taking time to get to know each other’s friends and family.
  • Having conversations about what’s going on in their lives.
  • Consulting each other before making big decisions or purchases.
  • Having an equal part in building your future.
  • Helping each other out where you can.

Keep Your Relationship In Proportion

To ensure that your relationship is proportional, it is imperative that you work together and spend time getting to know each other. Treat each other with respect and offer your partner equal opportunities as those you are given. Do not withhold love and affection when your partner needs it. Take time to get to know them and ask them about their daily life. This guarantees relationship success.

Suicide and suicide attempts affect the health of friends and family. When people pass from suicide, the family and friends left behind experience heartbreak, shock, anger, guilt and even develop mental health problems themselves because of it!

What You Should Know

If you know of someone who is showing warning signs of suicide, please, don’t be afraid to talk about depression openly. If the individual has thoughts about hurting themselves or committing suicide, ask them what’s wrong and listen clearly to what they are saying without judging them and don’t interrupt them or cut them off while they are speaking to you, everyone wants to cut in to give advice or keep asking questions, don’t or they might not open up to you again or to anyone else when they want and need help, they need all the love and support they can get at their time of need.

Your Loved Ones

Your friends and family members need to know that you care about them and are willing to listen to them talk about how they are feeling and what is making them feel that way.

Talking to a Loved One in a Depressive State!

Notes on suicide | Healthier Me Today

Try your best to give them advice on how to handle the situation they are in once they have finished speaking and ask them if they want advice or not, because sometimes people just need to let go of what’s bothering them without getting any advice they just want that heavy burden lifted off their shoulders from keeping their problems and feelings bottled up inside and tell them they are not alone in their situation but if you don’t know what to say to them in their time of need, tell them that there are places they can go to with people who know how to help them with what’s going on and that there are call lines that can help them in their time of need and give them the treatments and advice that they need, remind them that they are dearly loved and cared about more than they think they are.

Depression Room – The Four Corners Of My Mind

Depression Room - Healthier Me TodayDepression Room – The Four Corners Of My Mind!

Many people don’t understand depression, mainly because it is too hard to imagine, but also, it could be that they don’t want to understand it, but let me explain it to you, this is what it’s like inside of a depressed person’s mind.

When you are depressed, there is a heavy feeling in your chest, it’s exactly the same feeling you feel when a loved one has passed away, but no one has passed away, only you have, and that feeling is always there. It just refuses to go away.

When you stare into a mirror and see your reflection, you just see yourself as a ghost, you’re living, but it doesn’t feel like it. You feel and look dead inside. You try endlessly to see some type of life in your eyes, but you only see dead eyes. There’s no light and no hope in them, and you start to ask yourself, how can you live for another day, week, or month?

Then you just stop thinking about that and start asking yourself if you will even be able to survive the day you woke up to. You just feel defeated every single day.

The Horrid Depression Room – How it Feels!

Depression Room - Healthier Me Today

It’s almost as if all the storms that could exist are happening right inside of your mind, and you can’t think straight, it’s just dark and stormy in there, you know you can’t survive it, but there’s nothing you can do about it.

Even if nothing has happened, everything just seems so wrong. Suddenly you just think no one is loving or caring anymore. Everyone and everything just irritates you so much you can’t stand it. You don’t want to work because it feels as if you can’t. It feels like you aren’t giving it your all, but you are, yet that voice inside your head keeps telling you a thousand different things to torture you.

Everything you do takes so much more effort. What you thought was difficult to do feels too overwhelming. What makes you sad is so unbearable. What feels like a bit of joy feels so pleasureless. It all just feels like you’re drowning in an ocean of pain, and you’re sinking deeper and deeper, and you can’t swim back up, almost as if you have so much weight tied to your feet it’s pulling you down into the darkness.

What Does Depression Feel Like? – Inside the Depression Room

Depression Room - Healthier Me Today

Depression can be hard to explain or express how it feels to someone who has not experienced it. There is one misunderstanding people make about depression: to compare it to feeling sad or down in the dumps.

Yes, people with depression feel sadness, but it feels more intense than normal sadness.

Depression feels like intense pain that can’t be identified in any particular part of the body. It is more painful than any type of physical pain you can ever experience, and no one can see it.

It’s like you’re trapped in a totally different universe. People seem so far away that you can reach or call for help, and it’s the feeling of screaming, and no one can hear you. You start to feel like no one cares about you and no one wants to help you. What does depression feels like and how does it feel to be stuck in a depression room?

  • Depression Room - Healthier Me TodayThere is no pleasure or joy in life: No matter what you do or try to do, you just don’t feel pleasure in doing things, and the things you don’t bring you joy.
  • Concentration and focus become harder: When you make decisions, sit in class and read or watch television, it seems overwhelming because you can’t focus or think clearly.
  • Everything in life seems hopeless: There is just no way to feel better. Depression may make a person feel like there is o way to ever feel good again.
  • Self-Esteem is absent half of the time: People with depression feel like they are worthless and are a failure at everything. They dwell on everything and cannot see any positive qualities in themselves.
  • Sleeping is a problem: Falling asleep and staying asleep is almost impossible for those in a depressive state! A person may wake up continuously and not be able to go back to sleep. Others sleep too much but still wake up tired, despite the extra hours of sleep.
  • Energy levels are almost non-existent: Some people feel like they can’t get out of bed. They feel that they are too exhausted to do their simple daily tasks.
  • Loss of appetite: People with depression feel like they don’t want to eat anything. When they force themselves to eat, they get nauseous and stop eating, and this causes them to lose a lot of weight which is unhealthy.
  • Food may be used as a comfort or coping mechanism: some people with depression don’t want to eat, others overeat and crave unhealthy foods to comfort them. This can lead to unhealthy weight gain.
  • Aches and pains: Some people experience headaches, nausea, body aches, and other pains with depression.

Many people seem to believe that being depressed is a choice or that they need to have a positive attitude. Friends and family get frustrated and don’t understand why a person can’t snap out of their depressive state. They love to tell the person who is depressed that they have nothing to be depressed about.

What it Means!

Depression Room - Healthier Me Today

Depression is an actual mental illness. People who have depression cannot simply decide one morning when they wake up that they will stop being depressed.

Unlike normal sadness or worry, depression feels like it’s eating you alive, and you feel hopeless.

If you know of anyone with depression, speak to them and comfort them as best as you can because this is exactly how someone with depression feels, and this is what goes on inside their mind. Depression isn’t just a phase. It is an illness. A lot of things can cause depression, so don’t be quick to judge and push your friends and family with depression to one side. Depression is the darkest illness to exist on this planet.

Why Mental Health And Well-Being Should Be Promoted In a Mental Health Academy

mental health academy | Healthier Me Today

For some people, mental health issues emerge when they are young, half of all mental disorders will rear by the time people are 14 years old and the other half its head by 25 years old, this is the same period when most people are busy educating themselves, and that is when people have the most stress and anxiety from studying and getting up to no time for themselves because they are too busy creating a future for themselves some make time for themselves and some don’t because they have to carry the weight of their families being disappointed in them if they don’t do a good job in university, and that makes a lot of people feel worthless and carry stress on their shoulders!

As well as increasing a person’s opportunity and decisions in life, promoting mental health and well-being as a secondary role in education helps students:

  • Succeed better in their education journey.
  • Build strength against difficult situations.
  • Develop protective factors for mental health.
  • Provide them with confidence to seek help early.

A Mental Health Academy

mental health academy | Healthier Me Today

Your mental health is considered equally as important as your physical health.

You often can’t see it with your eyes. Mental illness problems can cause serious damage to a person’s well-being, mentally and physically! For us to work on mental health issue prevention, we need to raise awareness about these problems. A mental health academy is definitely one of the main places where mental health awareness needs to be spread.

Mental health awareness in schools is enormous. Let’s take a detailed look at why we need schools to spread awareness about mental health.

Closing the Gap

mental health academy | Healthier Me TodaySchools are supposed to help our younger generation prepare for the world that awaits at the end of their schooling days and all the obstacles they will run into.

Most schools of today teach:

  • Physical health.
  • Health education.
  • Nutrition.
  • Sex education.

However, there’s a massive hole when it comes to mental health. Without being properly educated students won’t know how to:

  • Recognize the problem that they’re experiencing.
  • Opening up about it.
  • Look for help when it gets bad.
  • Help other people with similar or other mental health problems.

This hole needs to be closed soon, and the children need to have a chance of dealing with their mental health problems just like they’ll deal with any other problem they have.

Suicide & Mental Illnesses

mental health academy | Healthier Me TodaySuicide is and has always been one of the leading causes of death among the ages of ages 10-25 worldwide. Raising awareness of suicide will immediately lower the rates of such tragic event happening!

Talking and learning about mental health illnesses will leave a positive impact on the students struggling:

  • They will learn about therapy and how to treat their problem correctly.
  • They will be more ready to talk about it than bottle it in.
  • They will acknowledge that they have a problem.

Everything in the statements above will hopefully lower the suicide rate and offer young people a solution other than ending their life.

Early Intervention

mental health academy | Healthier Me TodayLike any other disease or health problem, early interventions are just as important in mental health.

Teachers, school counselors, school psychologists, and everyone else has to learn about it.

  • Early detection of mental illness or suicidal tendencies!
  • Spotting the meaningful changes in someone’s everyday behavior
  • Act upon any signs of mental illness promptly!
  • Social Media Influence

We all love using social media to get information, find entertainment, and connect with our friends and celebrities. There is a rather ugly side to it that not many people are not actually talking about.

The truth is, social media does have consequences and can leave extremely deep scars in the minds of the users who use it on an everyday basis, especially the younger generation of today.

Watching rich, famous, and successful people on social media can cause mental health problems in young children, causing:

  • Low self-esteem.
  • Self Perception.
  • Depression.
  • Anxiety.

Since social media is on the rise each year, with nearly 3.5 billion + active users worldwide, the effect it has on the younger generation around our schools is mind-blowing.

This is a threat. Schools will need to raise the bar in mental health awareness and ensure their students are learning about:

  • Self-Love.
  • How they should value themselves.
  • Loving one another.
  • Not judging one another.
  • Talking About their insecurities.

This would be an advantage for the proper development of students and prevent them from feeling demoralized or depressed.

Eliminating the Cause

mental health academy | Healthier Me TodayIt’s important to learn and be educated about the negative effects of mental health issues and how to treat them. It’s important to learn about the main causes as well.

Learning about the causes of stress, depression, and anxiety is important, and school can be a a negative or positive trigger for most students experiencing mental health issues.

Students feel stressed out due to:

  • School pressure.
  • Peer pressure
  • Bullying at school
  • Strict teachers
  • Homework Overload
  • The pressure of having high grades.

If everyone in schools knew what stressed out the students the most, they would find a way to eliminate these stress factors and create a calmer atmosphere at school for the students.

This will help the children find their peace and balance and get rid of the feeling of anxiety, and stress, which could, later on, develop into even more severe mental health issues.

Mental Health And Awareness and a Mental Health Academy

mental health academy | Healthier Me Today

It’s very important to raise mental health awareness in schools and this may be why a mental health academy may help since younger people are affected daily by their mental health issues. They desperately need a system that they can rely on and some source of information to get them through the process of dealing with their inner issues on a daily basis. Schools need to make changes and get as many people as possible to work on raising mental health awareness.

Bethenny Frankel – BStrong Organization Funds at over $10 Million

Whether you love her or loathe her, there is no grey area when it comes to Bethenny Frankel, and one thing is sure, Ms. Frankel cuts straight to the point – she doesn’t just talk the talk, she jolly well walks the walk, with sass, style, a razor-sharp mind, and a deeply compassionate heart.

Bethenny Frankel First To Quick Action, and Not Just Talk

“…praying isn’t enough,” Bethany Frankel.

Bethenny Frankel BStrong organization, together with Global Empowerment Mission, has responded to the growing humanitarian crisis in Ukraine with speed, efficiency, and empathy. Within days she had representatives on the ground in Poland, with her team being the first to arrive at the crossing point that the refugees were using.

Ukrainians Homeless within 48 hours

“It’s the things that people would need immediately if displaced. Just the basic, basic needs” Bethenny Frankel

The organizations quickly sent out 1000,000 crisis kits containing blankets, sleeping bags, toiletry, non-perishables, and water. Much needed generators have also been sent out. The BStrong Organisation is also preparing cash cards to be distributed to the refugees. This is a unique and very empathetic inclusion, as it shows an exceptional understanding of human emotions. Consider that these ordinary Ukrainians were going about their daily lives. Then suddenly they were under attack by Russia, with bombs falling, family, friends, neighbors dying all around them and then they had to flee their homes with nothing, within 48 hours. I can’t even begin to imagine, can you?

Apart from being practical, the cash cards do give back to the Ukrainians a sense of self-empowerment and dignity.

“If you can’t handle the truth, you can’t handle this podcast.”

Yes, she did find fame from being on reality shows like ‘The Apprentice: Martha Stewart’ and “The Real Housewives of New York City’ but rather than just staying in reality T.VShe cleverly used them as a springboard to create her brand and business – Skinnygirl, named after her a cleverly self-created cocktail that she made famous on RHONY.

‘You have brought me true happiness, and I’m so lucky to have you in my life. These are words said to her fiance Paul Bernon, the Peabody Award Winner.

Bethenny Frankel once said, ‘He came as advertised-better than advertised. But, unfortunately, he overshot the mark’ Hopefully. Life will now give some much-deserved love and laughter to the hard-working Bethany Frankel and her daughter in the new family home she and Paul Bernon are setting up.

“It’s a scary situation,” Bethany Frankel.

The Betong Organisation, along with its partner, will be taking a whopping $10 Million worth of aid to Ukraine, covering forty shipping containers to the value of $250,000 each. Her new goal is to aim for a staggering $20 million, but she can if anyone can do it.

She wants to make cash and plane tickets available to the refugees, as well helping them to get to any family they may have outside of Ukraine. Unusually, all of the funding for BStong is available online, and anyone can view where and how the money is being allocated.

What You Need to Know About Laminating Your Medicare Card

Important items like documents and identification cards are often preserved to protect them from damage. Methods like lamination are among the best-rated options, but does that include a Medicare card, too?

This article explores everything there is to know about this card, including can you laminate your Medicare card. Let’s jump in!

Can I laminate my Medicare card

What are Medicare Cards Made Of?

While the original Medicare cards were similar to Social Security cards, the cards issued since 2018 are much thicker and more durable. They are designed with this type of paper to save costs and to be easily replicated if needed. But this doesn’t mean that the paper will hold, which often leads to questions like, “Can you laminate your Medicare card?” “Can I laminate my Medicare card?” “Is it okay to laminate your Medicare card?” etc.

So, Can You Laminate Your Medicare Card?

To answer your burning question, yes, you can laminate your Medicare card. But the Social Security Administration advises against this, and for good reason [MedicalNewsToday].

Is it okay to laminate your Medicare card

Why Laminating Medicare Cards is Not a Good Idea

You may be wondering, can you laminate your Medicare card? While it’s not illegal to laminate your Medicare card, it’s not recommended due to several reasons.

  • Interference with Security Features: Laminating medicare cards can affect both the visibility and functionality of embedded security features. This can lead to issues when scanning, which can be incredibly frustrating.
  • Difficulty Making Copies: Sometimes, pharmacies ask for a copy of your Medicare card for prescription pills, but lamination can make copying more challenging.
  • Acceptance Issues: Most healthcare services still accept laminated cards, but there is no guarantee that they will. This means you could encounter confusion or delays.

can you laminate your Medicare card

Alternatives to Laminating Medicare Cards

Now that you have an idea about can you laminate your Medicare card, it’s time to look at some options that the Social Security Administration would recommend.

Common Misconceptions Regarding Medicare Cards

Can you laminate your Medicare card? is a popular question, but it’s just one of many misconceptions people have about Medicare cards. These misunderstandings can lead to confusion and misuse. Let’s clear up the most common myths and help you understand what’s true.

  1. You Must Carry Your Medicare Card at All Times

While it is convenient to have your card on you, it’s not necessary. Many actually leave their Medicare securely at home and only bring them to doctor appointments, pharmacy visits, and hospital stays. This reduces the risk of losing or having it stolen. Also, if you forgot your card at home, healthcare providers can look up your Medicare number.

  1. Anyone Can Use a Medicare Card

This is not true! There are fraud prevention systems in place that ensure only the cardholder accesses these benefits. Healthcare providers typically ask individuals to show a form of identification to ensure that the person receiving the key is the authorized cardholder.

But this doesn’t mean that you should have your card lying around, as this card information is just as sensitive as any personal data.

  1. Photocopies of Your Medicare Card are Not Accepted

Some believe that photocopies of your Medicare card will not be accepted, but this is far from the truth. The original card might be the preferred method, but healthcare providers and insurance companies accept photocopies of your Medicare card, especially if the original card is damaged or unavailable.

If you’re worried about this, get a digital copy, as it’s more reliable.

  1. Digital Medicare Cards Replace Physical Cards

Just because there are digital Medicare cards today does not mean the original handheld copy is phasing out. Physical cards are still widely used and remain essential for many people.

By understanding these common misconceptions — especially knowing why you shouldn’t laminate your Medicare card — you’ll be better prepared to handle your healthcare needs. Protect your card, store it securely, and always have a backup plan, like a digital or photocopied version.

Ways to Keep Card Safe

When it comes to the question, can you laminate your Medicare card, the answer is yes — but it’s not recommended. While lamination isn’t illegal, the Social Security Administration advises against it due to potential issues with scanning, copying, and acceptance at healthcare facilities.

Remember that if you have already laminated your Medicare card, it’s not the end of the world. It’s still accepted, and you can request a new card via phone or their online services.

Healthier Me Today wants to help you maintain a normal household during these difficult times! The current Russian invasion of Ukraine has left us all a little shell-shocked and doubtful of the future. As parents, we fear the effect it may have on our children. Understand that feeling anxious or stressed is a natural response to the unnecessary violence exposed to. While we may be uncertain of what may come or how the war might affect the world, our job as parents is to ensure our children feel safe and secure. The best advice is to keep to your usual household practices as much as possible.

House Rules For a Normal Household

How to Maintain A Semi-Normal Household for Your Child During the War | Healthier Me Today

Every family is unique in their day to day schedules. We each have our own rules and values, and keeping a sense of normality in the home during this uncertain time is not always easy, but we have a few tips on how to make our children more comfortable.

  • Ensure your child takes the time to play and have fun.
  • Establish routines as they will encourage stability and structure.
  • Maintain set times for meals, playtime, family time and for sleeping.

Managing Media Exposure

Our children are usually more aware of what is going on around them than we think. Be it from playground chatter, unlimited access to social media, and the uncensored information on television, our children by now will know about the plight of the Ukrainian people. While it is impossible to be around our children 24 hours a day and monitor everything they see or hear, we suggest you try the following to keep some sense of control.

  • Limit your child’s news and social media exposure as much as you can.
  • Don’t let your child be on social media or watch the news before bedtime.
  • Use the parental controls on all computers, tv’s and cellphones to ensure your child is not disturbed by relentless war footage.
  • Try to watch all news and media coverage of the war with your child.
  • This way, you can answer their questions straight away and not let them worry in doubt.
  • Encourage your children to read the newspaper as it has a lot less graphic and violent images than television.

Honesty and Trust For Establishing a Normal Household

How to Maintain A Semi-Normal Household for Your Child During the War | Healthier Me TodayAs primary caregivers, our children look to us for guidance and reassurance. If you are open and honest, it will give your children a firm sense of security and encourage them to do the same.

  • Always keep your promises. This will build your child’s trust in you and know they can come to you in any situation.
  • Being consistent and following through on a promise will teach your children about responsibility.
  •  Don’t be afraid if you do not know the answers to the questions.
  • Never jeopardize your child’s trust by lying to them or making something up.
  • Your child may be experiencing fear for the safety of their family and themselves. Show them on a map where the conflict is playing out and place the crisis in context.

Playing a Major Role

We cannot force our children to recover or forget about the information they have heard or gruesome images that they have seen. We can, however, play a significant role in their healing process.

  • Spend quality time together face to face with no distractions.
  • Switch off the tv, PlayStations and phones and focus on each other.
  • Create a safe environment where your child feels comfortable talking to you about their emotions and asking questions.
  • Ask your children often if they have anything on their minds or any questions for you.
  • Learn what they have been exposed to.
  •  Do not force your child to talk about the war, as this could leave them feeling even more distressed.
  • Ensure you communicate in an age-appropriate way as younger children will have different coping skills compared to teens.
  • Older children will feel more comfortable knowing facts and information.
  • Validate their fears even if they seem irrelevant to you.
  • Allow your child to feel upset, angry or scared and let me know they are not alone in those feelings.
  • Depending on their age and maturity, we may have to censor our emotions but always try to be as honest as possible.

Family Time

Children are resilient and seem to bounce back after a traumatic event faster than adults. Keeping your usual family routine will bring a sense of normality in the chaos and give your children a haven where they can be themselves and not feel scared or alone. Use this time to start spending more quality time with your children. Plan outside family activities like a picnic or a soccer game. In times like these, we realize the fragility of life and how important family and a support system is.

In 1918 the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine opened its doors and was a significant turning point for the country in terms of technological advances. Ukraine is full of hard-working and knowledgeable people, and the number of IT-related graduates has skyrocketed in the last few years. Unlike other sectors and businesses, there is very little or no bureaucracy involved, and young graduates employed in IT tend to live comfortable lifestyles. The cost of living is meager. Especially compared to the US, graduates will have better financial security because of lower taxation than most countries. Professionals working in this field will take the Ukrainian economy to a whole new level of success.

The Future of Ukrainian Technology

Ukraine may still have a long road ahead, especially in its fight against poverty. However, while other businesses may fall behind mainly due to continuous attacks on their infrastructure, their progress through technology development is unrivalled. With Ukraine’s continued support from their government and strong start-up ethics, we could see them become the most significant technology hub in Europe.
